"Fat Nail" in Black Bridal Leather - Handmade minimalist leather guitar strap
Meet “Fat Nail”, minimal" doesn't have to mean "simple”.
This model is being used by Ash Wilson, Chris Hillman and Adrian Gautrey from Kiefer Sutherland's band. Some pictures of them in action attached.
Made with a beautiful bridal leather that has a more firm feel to it. It's still very flexible and will soften up with time, but it doesn't have that little bounce give the regular vegetable tanned leather has. The difference is subtle, it's all about preference which I want to accommodate for from every angle.
Handmade by me and one of a kind.
Tall, slim, bare bones design that seems to be very popular with younger audiences (this quote makes me sound really old...) or people without back problems who want to look cool. Heavily influenced by certain handsome chaps from Sheffield, who seem to like simplicity.
As always, I had to put my twist on things. Simple doesn't have to be inferior to more complicated designs. Every edge and every hole has been beveled and burnished as usual. The strap will not cut your neck or rip through your favourite shirt.
Solid brass buckle, UK sourced.
Traditional solid brass saddlers rivets keeping it in place, same source.
1 inch wide. Around 48.5" to 55.5" long.
I made two versions, one plain apart from solid brass rivets holding the buckle in and one with added decorative (solid brass too) rivets.
Smooth finish with this one. Solid feel to it. It's the same thing horse rains and other saddlery items are made from!
Now, I know where the mentioned handsome chaps from Sheffield sourced their straps. I was invited to their guitar world to have a look. They were $100+ when I checked last year.
Mine are better.
Buy here for £69.99 for the plain, £79.99 for the one with decorative rivets.
More colours will come. Custom lengths can be made.
These are 100% handmade by me in my studio, located in Hampshire, UK.
I'm a touring guitar technician by night, leather smith by day and these are the result of years of listening to artists feedback on their experiences with their current guitar straps, backed by my own creative flair and over a decade of experience in leather working.
